One of the founding principles of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® is its commitment to encouraging and cultivating high scholastic standards among young women. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® has a rich history of providing young African American women with opportunities to go to college by establishing scholarships through its hundreds of chapters. 

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® Epsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter which serves Champaign, Danville, Rantoul and Urbana began awarding scholarships in 1960. We have awarded over $200,000 to African American college bound high school seniors through our fundraising and charitable efforts; and we strive to continue this important tradition of educating our future leaders. 

Applicant Academic Scholarship Criteria

To be eligible for this one-year, one-time only award, the applicant must:

      ►  Be a full-time high school senior 

      ►  Reside in Champaign/Vermilion county 

      ►  Demonstrate community service involvement

      ►  Be an African American female

      ►  Have a minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0 or 3.5/5.0 equivalent scale 

      ►  Identify academic recognition

Application Requirements 

Scholarship Applications must be fully completed and submitted online on or before the deadline on Friday, March 31, 2023 by 11:59pm. 

Applications must contain all of the required items listed below.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

     ► A personal statement/essay 

     ► An official transcript 

     ► A photograph of the applicant (a professional headshot is preferred)

     ► Two (2) letters of recommendation, including the contact information for each person who submitted a letter of recommendation

Eligible students are encouraged to complete the scholarship by Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:59 pm.
