Why did you join Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated?
Growing up I had the privilege of being taught, mentored, and supported by amazing women of various organizations. However, Alpha Kappa Alpha stood out to me. I have never met a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha who didn’t hold herself to a higher standard. The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha embodied every aspect of who I wanted to be selfless, virtuous, graceful, giving, kind, and beautiful in every way. Oh, and did I mention the service to all mankind, that they didn’t just say but that they did? I chose Alpha Kappa Alpha, because they/we are trailblazers and literal black history makers, the ones that paved the way for others. Service has always been ingrained in me from when I was a child, so seeing first hand the work and great impact that Alpha Kappa Alpha had on campuses as well as in communities with such grace and poise I knew it was the organization for me. Finally, the sisterhood, my Best Friend Margo Hill led me to Alpha Kappa Alpha. She has always embodied sisterhood through her love and selflessness by showing up and being there for others in spite of what she may be going through. She is supportive and not just there when you need her, but is there even without you telling her you need her (whether you like it or not). She showed me what sisterhood really is and is the reason I am and will continue to be the woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha that I am today.
