Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
Epsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter

Alpha Kappa

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority always has been at the forefront of social justice to promote fairness and equity. We stand in the gap to empower our communities and act in the best interests of all people through social advocacy and justice.

We will equip communities with the tools, knowledge, and support to activate their voices and mobilize self-help to empower communities to help themselves.

The Purpose and History of the
Alpha Kappa Alpha Connection Committee

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Connection Committee was developed in the 1980s by former International President Faye Bryant.  It is an extension of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated's long tradition of partnering with other national and community-based organizations to empower the underserved and the voiceless, to improve communities and to address social justice issues. The term Connection is based on the concept of linking every member together to maximize resources, expertise and relationships to work collectively and collaboratively to identify issues of paramount concerns.

Under the leadership of former International President Carolyn House Stewart and the adoption of the Connection Committee, chapters were asked to re-visit/visit each chapter’s involvement in the election and voting process and work to get citizens to the polls. Chapters were encouraged to participate in voter registration drives, help to educate citizenry about issues and the process, get citizens to the voting polls and attend AKA Day at the Capitol.

You can learn more about Epsilon Epsilon Omega's commitment to the Connection Committee by going to the About Us tab of this website, and selecting Chapter History in the drop down menu.
